This is my work-related project on knowledge management software and processes. I work in the futures studies and strategic foresight space in areas like food systems, after-capitalism / future of work, and demographic change.
There is so much going on in the space, I realised I need better tools to manage both the knowledge I consume and also the ones I create. I'm talking reports, academic journals, inforgraphics, videos and more.
The intention of this blog is to document my journey for my own reflections, and hopefully to aide in your own exploration of knowledge management and FOSS.
What does The Kancil do?
Goal
Experiment with different Knowledge Management software and workflow, including generative AI
Learn what FOSS (free and open source software) can do today as an alternative to Big Tech companies
Note: Tools from Microsoft and enterprise-level digital asset management software does a lot of what I intend to do, but this is part FOSS and part hobby for me.
Objectives
Make it easier to capture, store, organize, and access information in various forms like text, image, audio, and video
Automate capture and transformation and embeddeding of knowledge products, such as downloading a video, trasncribing, than producing summaries
"Activate Knowledge" through automating suggested readings and materials on a given subject area
Kancil is a common Indonesian and Malaysian children's story about a mousedeer (kancil) that is known for its cunning, outsmarting dangerous animals despite its small size.
