Kancil Software Setup

My current server is called Kancil2, which is a Bee-Link Mini S N5095. Kancil1 is a still running Raspbery Pi 2.

Keeping Kancil2 company is an owl named Shadrack and a 4 TB Western Digital hard drive.

Costs: Time. All FOSS (free and open sourced software) except API calls as/if needed

Cloud-based Software and Services

  • LLM (I would prefer to avoid ChatGPT)
  • Glacier storage service for cheap, long-term cloud backup

Costs: Minimal. Less than EU 10 per month

Local Hardware

  • Beelink Mini S (128 GB SSD, 16 GB ram)
  • 4 TB Western Digital hard drive

Cost: About EUR 90 for a used Beelink Mini S. I will likely need to upgrade the ram and SSD

Security Setup

  • Cloudflare Tunnel > Nginx Proxy Manager
  • And also, just keeping certain things offline (no open ports for certain services) and segregated (using containers)
